Interfaith Sunday School
Pre-K (3s):
Celebrating Ourselves and Our World
The IFFP 3s class provides a relaxed, play-based setting for our youngest Sunday School students. Since this is the children's first Sunday School experience, we spend a lot of time helping them become comfortable with their classmates, teachers and community. Every class begins and ends with a song. Teachers also tell an age-appropriate story that focuses either on one of the Jewish or Christian holidays or one of the five senses. The five senses are interwoven throughout the year as teachers relate them to the holidays, to the children's daily experiences, and to their relationship with God's world. "We're so lucky our bodies have five different ways to find out about the wonderful world God has made!" Music and movement (led by our IFFP music teachers) is part of each class as well. And, of course, there is plenty of time for play and a few simple craft projects. We want our youngest students to feel comfortable, loved and included. Our goal is for these children to get to know their classmates and get accustomed to Sunday School by the end of the preschool year. We hope that this class will set the tone for the rest of their Sunday School experience! |
